Day 6

Writing is a skill. In here I send notes of my writing from the 50 days of writing course by David Perell, to reflect, develop and build my writing style.

In the sixth email from the 50 days of writing by David Perell, he talks about how note-taking is similar to time travel where you get to recollect most of the memories associated with the moment just like the notion of Photos.

Memories unlock memories

photos help in resurfacing all the talks you had with strangers on the trip, it helps you relive the moment you were in while watching that beautiful sunset and it also helps you remember the smell of a particular place too. I remember watching sunset from Chapora Fort, Goa or popularly known as the 'Dil Chahta Hai' place, because the movie has a scene of them sitting on the fort walls and looking far into the horizon.

Similarly, Note-taking lets you feel the emotions, the senses, and also the presence of yourself at the moment in writing and it helps enhance our thinking and having conversations with ourselves.

The Grammy-winning artist Kendrick Lamar, who's the artist who made the album DAMN. is just his best work, in my opinion, says he always takes notes and in his words, he says he writes about things that inspire him and at a later point in life when he finds it relevant will recollect the essence of the moment he was in and writes songs about them.

My Thoughts:

I believe most of the famous artists are great note-takers. In this email, David mentions it as Time travel as it is similar to watching yourself at that moment of time where you felt the emotion.

I think it is true, Imagine you have a directory of all the moments good, bad, and ugly with you and at one point, you start to look at them you are living the moment once again adding in the personal experiences you had from then to now.

Note-taking does have the power to make yourself lost in the moment if you capture the emotions correctly.
