In the Seventh email from the 50 days of writing course by David Perell, the topic covered is Learning to write fast.

He describes what having a second brain where you have all the collected articles, highlights, notes, and conversations you have are preserved and are waiting to be synced. David also describes it as

the article’s structure comes together organically once you’ve compiled enough ideas. This is when most people start writing, but talking about your ideas is a faster way to concretize your structure.

Having a method that allows you to structure the content that you want to write will create more time for you to write. So David explains how recording what you want to write and transcribing it will help in outlining the structure and builds confidence as you will not be starting out from a blank page.

writing well is thinking well

My Thoughts:

I believe there are two things that can help in writing fast in pressing times i.e. time constraint is applied.

  1. Building a second brain that helps you start from a collection of notes on the topic:

Building a second brain is nothing but adding all the notes you find interesting or want to talk about in a place to refer, note and store for future use.

It is an archive or a database for the conversations and notes of all your readings, learnings, and intrigued

You can find more about building a second brain from Forte Labs. They have an overview of why a second brain and how to get started.

There are a ton of videos on YouTube from various creators like Ali Abdaal, Elizabeth Filips, and Red Gregory among many others.
  2. Practicing Typing so that you save an ample amount of time:

You can increase your typing speed by looking up online for websites like 10fastfingers.com and keybr.com You can get a guide on how to get started in typing fast as a maniac.

The one video I would recommend is Ali Abdaal's article on how to type faster and his YouTube video of him typing at 156 wpm.

Typing fast only concludes with having your thoughts out on the digital note-taking system in a quick and easy way.

Finally, having these two things will enhance our writing articles sooner which will increase our productivity among many other things.

I will conclude this article by saying writing down things and how we connect our thoughts just like the webs is amazing. I have been seeing so many interesting articles on it and soon will be posting an article on it.
